This year the team is made up of 19 High School students who auditioned in the Spring and were chosen to represent San Clemente. The purpose of the team to create a positive atmosphere where the students can develop their mind, body, and spirit-and have fun! Our focus is diverse. We are a Competition Team who also spends time and energy on giving back to the San Clemente community that so generously supports our students.We are grateful to the Principal of our School, Mr. Duarte, to our Advisor Mrs. Sobel and the CUSD Board of Education for their support.
The Goals of the Dance Team are:
- Promote and uphold school spirit by acting as a positive role model at all Dance Team events and activities -
- Demonstrate a postive attitude and Behaviors at all Dance Team events and activities -
- Build stronger relationships with other Schools and our community -
The students in the San Clemente High Scool Dance Team are chosen by audution every year.
About the Dance Team
Kelly Reed most recently joined the dance program as an instructor and choreographer at San Clemente High School in the summer. of 2003. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater and Dance from Chapman University. She has instructed students throughout California in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Lyrical and Hip Hop. Kelly has choreographed many regional and nationally recognized competition pieces. She also persformed and instructed on the Company Dance national tour as well as choreographed and performed with various up and coming Hip Hop artists. In her spare time Kelly models and you can see her in 2005 as the face for KMS hair care in their national print campaign.
